Many women believe that their problems with leaking and strengthening up their pelvic floor can be done and dusted in maybe one to two months. This would involve one to two sessions and maybe one to two exercises. You want your quick check. You want your one magic cure all exercise. Actually what you are asking for is my magic physio wand, and everything to return to normal working order down there quick smart!

You also don’t want to give up much of your precious time, Cos you’re a busy lady. And you don’t want to spend much money to do it. Ultimately what you’re saying is that you don’t want to invest in your own health and well-being AND you want to spend as little time as possible looking after and taking care of the one person who keeps this whole show on the road!

Now I’d love to sit here and tell you it is that easy and that your brain in your body can magically download this exercise programme and innate ability to strengthen itself back up after going through sometimes some pretty horrific birthing ordeals. But I can’t. I’m sorry. I’d be lying to you. And I’d be enabling you to continue thinking in this bonkers way you already are. You’re hoping is what you’re doing. You are hoping for a little miracle

I’ve recently come across this thing called the planning fallacy. It’s been proven in research that we as humans grossly underestimate how long it takes to complete a big tasks or project. And let’s be honest ladies, taking care of yourself and fixing those problems you’ve got with leaking is a project. For some of us it’s a bigger one than others.

I’ve talked in my previous videos, about how important it is to consider you as a whole person with your story to tell, and match all of that with our clinical findings from your assessment. This enables us to make your individual and sometimes very unique treatment and training plan and will give you the success you are after. You will be able to do the things you want to do and live the life you want to live without fear and shame and worry of leaking. Sound good right?

YES!

BUT it will take time and by that, I’m meaning a minimum of 3 to 6 months. I say minimum too because many of you have had the problems that you’ve had with leaking and pain for years.

It is AWESOME that you are addressing things now, but you need to remember that you’ve developed some strategies and ways of moving because of your leaking and pain that need to be undone so we can then train up the right way of moving and working your body so you don’t leak and don’t have pain.

Yes 3-6months minimum. You will need to set aside some time for yourself each day to to fix these problems. That only needs to be 5-10 minutes at a time.

Now before you go saying you haven’t got time I’m going to call BS.

Everyone has five to 10 minutes in their day. Everyone has two or three lots of five to 10 minutes in their day.

If it’s a big enough priority.

How long do you spend scrolling on social media or the Internet each and every day? More than 20 minutes that’s for sure!

So what you really need to figure out, is if ending the shame, the misery, the depression, the sadness, the fear,  the isolation and the inactivity in your life, that’s being caused by you leaking, is a big enough priority to spend 20 minutes of your time each day to fix it.

Are you willing to put your phone down and go and do your exercises for 10 minutes, twice a day so that you can end the misery that leaking is causing in your life?

Are you willing to do this for the next three to six months?

Don’t you think that that’s a good habit to get into anyway? Spending a bit of time looking after yourself and helping yourself solve the problems that are ruining your life?

If you know that at the end of it, you will get the life you want and be able to do all the activities that you want, are you now willing to spend those two lots of 10 minutes in your day because I know you could find them if you really want to

Making 20 minutes of self-care an ongoing daily priority for the rest of your days is an AWESOME idea and definitely one you will NEVER regret (unlike scrolling social media!).

So get your mindset right ladies, and be willing to invest the time over the next three to six to maybe even 12 months, to get your body the best it’s been in years. Set yourself up for the rest of your days to do the things you want to do and love to do.

Making 20 minutes of self-care an ongoing daily priority or ritual for the rest of your days is an AWESOME idea and definitely one you will NEVER regret (unlike scrolling through social media!).

You are so worth it my friend!
